A picture is worth a thousand words.

I love photos. Sometimes you only participate because it is worth the photographic memory.

The photo of Annie, my newly wedded daughter, is way beyond the participation, but it evokes such emotions in me, I need to blog it!

Special wedding, special day, #burtonspringforthering. I love this frozen in time photo op. Such joy and happiness of a beautiful bride and groom. I am glad I was a part of it.

I made the dress! I love my joyous daughter feeling the beauty of her gown along with the newly wedded glow.

I wasn’t sure I was up to the task, but when your daughter asks, how can you say no? Surely my sewing skills have come this far if she dare asks!

I vowed to take my time. I vowed to do my best. We enjoyed our trek to Elegant Fabrics  in New York City. We found a beautiful, delicate lace and it was with trepidation I made the first cut through the material.

This was of course, after making a muslin with extra fabrics I had. First step: let’s see if this is going to fit! Two patterns: lace top and satin mermaid skirt Simplicity 8328 McCall’s M7540.  But first all in muslin.

Fortunately I have a pattern perfect daughter!

We adjusted the sleeves some, but the waist and hips showed her slender figure to perfection. (But she is small – no losing or gaining more than an ounce for several months!)

Several fittings later I was feeling pretty proud. This could really happen and Annie will be beautiful. Future in-laws and friends took peeks and oooed and aahhed approval.

Wedding day approached and the length fitting seemed okay. One more time around a very full skirt with tiny hand stitches and we were actually here! My bride-to-be had a dress for wedding day.

I must have done something right. Her groom had tears in his eyes when Annie came down the hill with her father. I get tears remembering.

She was beautiful. The ceremony was beautiful.

When for the first time they were introduced as Mr. and Mrs., the picture was worth a thousand words.
